Titanic

It is hard to believe, but this year marks the 100 year anniversary since the sinking of the Titanic. There have been many lost that day, but also there were many survivors.
The grim task of burying many of the dead was done in Halifax and a visit to the Fairview Lawn Cemetery is an impressive spiritual occasion. So many gravestones with the same date of death,  April 15, 1912.
The remembrance will be a solemn event and in this spirit, Hal Jones decided to paint the painting
"The Story, The Myth - The Titanic". He painted this painting with ghost like images because, having grown up in Halifax the mythology often overtook the history of the Titanic.
There are so many myth and stories(visit the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax) surrounding this event and it is my hope, you will all take in the exhibition there.

The Story, The Myth - The Titanic, Acrylic Painting by Hal Jones

Hal, has managed to capture the gist of the story with a subtle sense of the tragedy but with the strong feeling of hope and survival. The colors and lack thereof, gives the painting  a surreal atmosphere. You have to see it!!
This original painting will be at my display, Silvia's Publishing, at the Halifax Seaport Farmers Market starting Feb.18th and
There is also  the opportunity to purchase the Limited edition prints of the painting. There will be only 99 signed and numbered prints available which will make them very rare.
I look forward to sharing this increadable painting with you and as always I will be there Saturday and Sunday.
Cheers
Silvia
